Claims & Estimating Manager
Overview
- Works closely with homeowners and their insurance companies to mitigate the damage caused by hailstorms , restoring the home to its original condition. Seeks to write estimates, work with insurance companies, and assure release of final insurance payments. Works closely with project managers, insurance companies, and homeowners to properly assess property damage. Itemizes damages for property and ensures the homeowner receives proper settlement. Assures is complete and payment is made in full.
Responsibilities and Duties
Supplementing & Estimating
- Manages the day-to-day development, communication, and reconciliation for Insurance Supplementing
- Serves as the liaison between insurance companies, homeowners, and project managers
- Communicates with team members and trade partners regarding projects
- Reviews and evaluates cost estimates, then prepares a cost analysis
- Understands scope of work to bid and ensures timely completion of estimates
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products and manage bid pricing from all vendors
- Receives supplement requests from Project Managers and creates estimates for insurance companies supported by photos, building codes, and supplement information
- Utilizes Xactimate Software to estimate materials and labor costs needed to perform roofing, siding, gutters, painting, windows, garage doors, storm doors, and other materials to be replaced
- Assesses discrepancies, negotiates, and reconciles supplements with insurance adjusters
- Manages documents pertaining to insurance and mortgage companies and internal documents required are effectively and efficiently facilitated through the insurance process from beginning to completion.
- Contacts Adjusters with insurance companies to verify estimate approval
- Produces estimates that will require insurance and third-party approval while maintaining the required profit margins
- Negotiates, settles, and finalizes estimates with the appropriate parties as needed
- Communicates claim status – creates, updates, and submits invoices to insurance companies for work completed and ensures depreciation release
- Identifies code upgrades and discontinued materials
- Compiles and prepares Project Manager Sales Reports for Sales Volume Tracking
- Conducts retrospective cost reviews on prior estimates/jobs to compile and maintains historical costs on site construction for profitability measures and use on future cost estimates
- Review and evaluate cost estimates
- Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects
- Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products
- Ensure timely completion of estimates
- Understand scope of work to bid
- Manage bid pricing from all vendors
- Prepare cost analysis
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years’ experience in Construction estimating
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates
- Strong understanding of residential construction processes
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Impeccable problem-solving skills
